Crating/Wooden box packaging

For international shipments and heavy material and equipment transport we use wooden crates. Our crates are of the highest quality and our compliance is as per ISPM 15 standards when it comes to manufacturing these crates using wood.  International Standards For Phytosanitary Measures No. 15 (ISPM 15) is an International Phytosanitary Measure developed by the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) that directly addresses the need to treat wood materials of a thickness greater than 6mm, used to ship products between countries. Its main purpose is to prevent the international transport and spread of disease and insects that could negatively affect plants or ecosystems. ISPM 15 affects all wood packaging material (pallets, crates, dunnages, etc.) requiring that they be debarked and then heat treated or fumigated with methyl bromide and stamped or branded,  with a mark of compliance. Many countries do not allow the shipment beyond their port if the stamp is not seen on the wooden box / pallet / crate and a valid certificate does not accompany the shipping documents.  There is also a penalty that is levied towards cleaning up of the premises in such cases and towards disposal of such hazardous substances.

We specifically decide the type of wooden create depending on size, weight or material and the length of the journey and type of journey. The strength of a wooden box is rated based on the weight it can carry before the cap (top, ends, and sides) is installed. “Skids” are also specified by our personnel to allow forklift trucks access for lifting the heavy crates.

Specialised vacuum Packing

Depending on the kind of material being transported , at Transworld we take great precaution and are particular about the packaging we use. Some materials need special protection from corrosion, including heat-sealed vapor barriers, film barriers, VCI’s (vapor corrosion inhibitors) or other forms of precautionary packaging. 

We also provide vacuum packing since it helps reduce atmospheric oxygen and limits spoilage and reduction of evaporation of volatile content.

It is also used in those cases where we need to reduce the bulk of the item to ensure a tight wrap.
